Imperial Spa
The stately Pseudo-Renaissance building of Císařské lázně (Emperor Spa) was built between 1893 and 1895 according to the design of distinguished Viennese architects Ferdinand Fellner and Herman Helmer in the southern part of Karlovy Vary. The Imperial Spa was considered a prestigious spa institution with the most state-of-the-art balneological facilities in the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy. The spa complex was closed down in the mid 1990s and it ultimately fell into disrepair. In recent years, however, the building of the Imperial Spa is undergoing gradual renovation as it has been declared a National Cultural Monument.More
Castle Tower
Zámecká věž (Castle Tower) seated on a rock above Tržiště Street in the historical centre of the city is the last standing remnant of the original small Gothic castle of Emperor Charles IV from the mid 14th century. It was converted into a watchtower following an extensive fire in 1608. Today, the Castle Tower houses a stylish restaurant and a gallery called “Na ochozu” (At the Gallery).More

Lützow’s Villa
The Empire-style villa was built between 1853 and 1854 by Baron August von Lützow on a hill high above the town of Karlovy Vary. Lützow's Villa was one the first structures of its kind in Karlovy Vary, as well as in northwestern Bohemia. Baron Lützow had the grounds surrounding his villa landscaped as a romantic garden with bastions, numerous mysterious recesses, a gloriette, arbours, and animal sculptures.More
Hotel Thermal
The modern hotel complex and spa sanatorium known as the Thermal Hotel was built between 1967 and 1976 according to the design of the Czech husband-and-wife team of architects Věra and Vladimír Machonin. The dominant, high-rise hotel building may boast a convention centre with vast premises suitable for festivals, congresses, symposiums, concerts and many other cultural events. Inseparable from the hotel is its unique open-air heated swimming pool supplied with thermal water from the Hot Spring. Every year, the Thermal Hotel is the central venue of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.More
Peter House
The oldest house in Karlovy Vary, the Baroque half-timbered house called Petr, was built between 1706 and 1709 in Vřídelní (Hot Spring) Street in the centre of the town. From 1999 to 1970, the run-down building underwent a total reconstruction. The façade of the house is fitted with a bronze plaque of the Russian Tsar, Peter the Great, who helped masons build the house "U páva" (At the Peacock) across the road in 1711.More
House at the Three Moors
The Baroque house known as U tří mouřenínů (At the Three Moors) was built in 1760 in Tržiště Street in the historical centre of Karlovy Vary. World-renowned German poet and writer Johann Wolfgang Goethe stayed at the house nine times between the years 1806 and 1820. A memorial plaque commemorating Goethe's stays may therefore be found on the forefront of the house.More
Felix Zawojski House
Master tailor Felix Zawojski had this beautiful Art Nouveau house built in 1900 for his fashion salon in Tržiště (Market) Street in the historical centre of the town. The impressive Art Nouveau building was designed by Viennese architect Karl Haybäck. Between 2006 and 2008, it underwent a complete reconstruction and conversion into a luxury hotel in the old-world style.More
Municipal Savings Bank
The corner building of the former Městská spořitelna (Municipal Savings Bank) built in Art Nouveau style between 1904 and 1906 according to the design of local architect Otto Stainl is located in the vicinity of the Hot Spring Colonnade in Divadelní náměstí (Theatre Square) in the city spa centre. After a new modern building of Česká spořitelna (Czech Savings Bank) had been built in 1993, the old building was sold into private hands. The building has been gradually falling into disrepair and it is currently closed to the public.More
