In Karlovy Vary, the space of the former heat exchanger near the tax office has been transformed into an extraordinary place – the Utopia Factory. This interactive exhibition, designed primarily for schoolchildren, offers visitors a glimpse into two different worlds.
“Children can create, draw, compose, craft, play with magnets, and type on a typewriter like Karel Čapek. The exhibition is loosely inspired by his novels and life,” said Kateřina Hanková, an instructor from Karlovy Vary’s Výměník.
The exhibition offers several stations, each providing diverse experiences. Visitors can reminisce about an era when humans ruled the world instead of robots or enter the Space for the Immortality of Karel Czech.
For those seeking an auditory adventure, the audio game Krakataudio by Jan Čtvrtník promises a unique experience for all senses. There's also the Factory of the Future, open to people of all ages.
The entire exhibition atmosphere is complemented by quotes from Čapek's works and his books, which are displayed in comic form. Visitors can recall the ideas of this significant writer, who often reflected on questions of technology, humanity, and the future of the world in his works.
The exhibition, on loan from the Drak Theatre in Hradec Králové, is available in Karlovy Vary until October 25, making it an ideal opportunity not only for school excursions but also for families and other Čapek enthusiasts.
