Tchaikovsky was inspired by a Norse legend about a girl named Odetta, who was turned into a swan, to compose lyrical, melodic music, a typical work of Late Romanticism. It has also become immortal thanks to the preserved choreography passages of Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov.
Since then, Swan Lake has been an exciting challenge for every new generation of soloists, as well as for the entire ballet company, striving for the presentation of top dancing virtuosity. The roles of Odetta/Odilie and the Prince will be danced by ballet soloists Margarita Pleškova and Vladimir Gončarov. Performed by the Orchestra of the Opera and Ballet Theatre of North Bohemia in Ústí nad Labem.
