Spa cup
The spa cup is indispensable for each visitor to the spa town. It also used to be called "koflík" in the past and the history of its production goes back to as early as the 17th century. Spa visitors drank mineral water from different stoneware, glass or tin spa cups in the course of centuries and finally its shape developed into the classical porcelain vessel with a handle and a long spout through which the visitor sipped on mineral water prescribed to him by his spa doctor.
"A siphon" or "a built-in drinking straw" - if you wish - appeared for the first time in the 19th century. It was mainly used to cool down hot mineral waters. Thanks to it patients could see the way while walking and did not stumble on the uneven surface of the colonnades. It has kept its practicality until these days and has spread to lots of spa towns.
