How to get there

Route 1:        You may reach the Dorotka Spring if you walk from the Hot Spring in the city centre upstream along the Teplá River. After you reach the Art Gallery, turn to U Imperiálu Street and continue walk up the street for a few metres. The seep of the Dorotka Spring is located in the Dorotka Pavilion, which is closed to the public. This route, which offers a pleasant walk through the city centre, is approximately 1.3 kilometres long and it will take you about half an hour.

Route 2:        If you decide for the second route, travel by Bus No. 2 or Bus No. 7 from the "Tržnice" (Market) city bus terminal to the "Richmond" stop by the Art Gallery. From there, you will need to walk about 100 metres up U Imperiálu Street.

The Dorotka Spring, which is also known as Dorotčin pramen (Dorothea's Spring), does not belong among typical mineral springs of Karlovy Vary. It is in fact a powerful emission of dry carbon dioxide accompanied by a very small volume of slightly mineralized water. The seep of the spring was diverted from its original location in the Empire style Dorothea's Gazebo to the stone Dorotka Pavilion situated behind the Gaseous and Sun Spa (Spa VI) near Parkhotel Richmond.

The spring seep may be found in the basement of the pavilion and it is currently used only for measurement purposes within the network of gas monitoring stations in western Bohemia. The pavilion has been closed to the public since 2012. An outlet through which a small amount of the mineral water from the spring flows into the Teplá River may be found near Most Karla IV. (Charles IV Bridge) opposite the Art Gallery.
