The Merry Widow

When it was first released in 1905, Lehár’s The Merry Widow garnered enormous acclaim, quickly took the world by storm and became Lehár’s most famous work. At least two hits from this operetta are known to literally everyone – You’ll Find Me at Maxim’s and the Vilja Song. Franz Lehár is especially famous for bringing sadness and tears into his last few operettas, except his fifth one, which offers a classic happy end.
