Three cities from the Czech Republic - Český Krumlov, Karlovy Vary and Prague - have landed on the top 100 global destinations with some of the most highly-rated hotels in the world, according to the annual Reputation Ranking 2017 released by hotel search website trivago.cz.
Out of the top 100 global hotel destinations, Český Krumlov flew the flag for the Czech Republic, taking 15th position with an index of 84,55. Karlovy Vary (82,61) is ranked 68th in this year’s list, which is the same position as in the previous. Prague (82,04) also made the cut in 86th place.
Göreme in Turkey boasts the most liked hotels in the world, with an index of 86.94. This honey-coloured town in the historic region of Cappadocia has become a popular tourist destination in recent years, and Göreme National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The destination contains a number of boutique cave hotels, which are typically praised for their value for money, excellent facilities, friendly service and beautiful location. In second and third place were the historic Italian towns of Matera and San Gimignano, both of which are also included on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
With over 200 million ratings gathered from over 30 websites worldwide, Trivago's crafted a comprehensive, fair and reliable index of hotel ratings: the trivago Rating Index (tRI).It uses an algorithm to aggregate the ratings, which provides a dependable and impartial score, whether a hotel has 40 reviews or 4,000. Each destination is given an index, which is based on over 200 million hotel reviews and ratings aggregated from over 30 booking sites worldwide. In order to make the comparison fair, only hotels with at least 60 reviews and destinations with at least 130 hotels are included.
