The “Nylon age” – Josef Škvorecký used that name for the three-year period after the war. These were the years of general euphoria over regained freedom and swing symbolized it for most young people. The music of Czech big bands led by Karel Vlach, Emil Ludvík or Ladislav Habart achieved an outstanding peak during that time before being brutally quashed by communist censorship after 1948. Ondřej Havelka and his Melody Makers show off the hottest and most dazzling swing sensations from the era of the big band in the NYLON AGE SWING concert show.
