The first Karlovy Vary Folk Festival (KFF) was held in 1996. Since the very beginning, the festival has been organised voluntarily by the members of the Karlovy Vary folk ensemble Dyleň, which leaders are Mr. Lubor Hanka and Mrs. Eva Hanková.

Since 1996, this international festival has grown into a significant size and importance and has hosted folk ensembles from all continents of the world. Next to the international importance, the festival is significant nationally – traditional folk dance and music from nearly all Czech and Slovak ethnographic regions have been presented in Karlovy Vary.

In every aspect of the festival programme visitors of all age group can dance, sing, play and draw, or just listen to rhythms and melodies from all around the world and watch dancers on the scene in various folk costumes.
