Tosca, Puccini's fth opera, is basedon a successful play by the French playwright VictorienSardou and it became one of the most played and most popular operas of the worldwide repertoire. Itsstory takes placein Rome in 1800. The love of two young artists – opera singer Tosca and the painter Cavaradossi - is threatened becausepolice chief Scarpia yearns for Tosca.

This takes place in the background of political events during the Napoleonic campaignagainst Austria in Italy ... The concert performance of the opera is in its original Italian with the participation of leading Czech soloists.
