Based on a novel by Alexander Dumas younger Lady with Camellias. Violetta Valéry, the lady of the half-world of Paris, falls in love with young Alfred Germont. Violetta reciprocates his sincere love, but their relationship could thwart happiness of Alfred‘s sister, who is to marry a young man from a good family. So Violetta makes a sacrifice and gives up Alfred. The torment speeds up her illness and she soon dies. Verdi‘s La Traviata is the most played opera of today.
